The Buttar training clinic rocks. I entered the tri 101 clinic having never competed in a triathlon. Three weeks into the clinic I was competing in a super spint tri and looking forward to my first big event. The coaches gave me the confidence needed to get out there and compete. The experience is something I will carry with me as I continue to move forward with training and competing. Thanks for the ride.

Just so you know if you offered another class that was a little above beginners…well I am in! Also, please tell Steve that I really appreciate the help with the transition, he was busy working when I tried to speak with him. However, I felt really prepared and I know I flew through the transition and was much happier with the time. I really need to work on coming out of the water quicker and I felt sluggish getting off the bike into the run, but much better then Clermonts Sprint TRI. Biking and running with no socks was a peace of cake and taking off/on the shoes on the bike went OK. The next step is the flying mount… Thanks again for all your help and I am sure I will see you all again!

Thanks Coach Kim and Z for everything. Your dedication and encouragement have meant a lot to me. I have learned so much; however, realize there is still so much more. I really enjoyed the group so much and hope to keep in touch with everyone. Tri training 101 was a great experience for me. I feel, even at my age, I’ve gotten to know myself better.

I LOVE the clinic!! I’m driving an hour to attend the clinics because I heard how great you and Kim are. So far, I’m not disappointed! You are an awesome coach. You tell me how you see things. which I need, but you make it a lot of fun. I am reminded constantly (including work) – it’s all about the math!

Thank you for all of your support for my first tri. It was a great experience and has set a base for me to improve on. I went to your first clinic and enjoyed meeting you there, and on the Saturday before the race you helped some of us with the details of the course. I thought that was awesome! I am sure to be seeing you at future events. Great job to you and all your crew. You could tell that all had a great experience.

I decided to do a Tri-101 Clinic to prepare for the Lake Moss Women’s triathlon (don’t remember exactly what it was called.) I had done a number of triathlons before this, but I decided to do the clinic because i felt i could benefit from coaching, and I also needed the extra motivation to do my workouts. What I didn’t expect was feeling like part of a team as I and the other women did our practices together. We were all in very different stages of life, with different strengths, weaknesses, and triathlon experience. I found myself really looking forward to each session– so much so that I got up at 5 a.m. and drove 2 hours from a church retreat so that I wouldn’t miss a session!
I really appreciated and gained a lot from both Kim and Z’s coaching. I was already a very strong swimmer (I swam competitively in middle and high school), but Kim was still able to give me exercises and tips to improve the efficiency and speed of my stroke. When I got out of the water after my swim at the triathlon, I felt great- it was the best tri swim I had ever done. Kim also helped to keep me motivated with my running and helped me improve my technique in that area.
Biking was definitely the weakest of the three disciplines, which is where Z came in. He spent time riding with each of us to improve our speed and efficiency, using our strengths on the bike to work through our weaknesses. He also helped me to know how far I could push myself to be better. I definitely feel like I am a much better athlete as a result of Z’s training.
One of the biggest areas where the clinic helped was in the transitions. From the very first practice, the training included transitioning between the various disciplines quickly and safely. I feel that that training helped me to improve my time and confidence on race day. I also enjoyed the discussions about nutrition and mental preparation.
I had a wonderful experience working with Kim and Z and the other women in the clinic. I just gave birth to my first child in March, and I’m really looking forward to getting back into race shape and competing in another triathlon as soon as possible. I want my children to see me enjoying an active lifestyle, and tri will definitely be a part of that. I definitely plan on doing other Tri clinics with Kim and Z in the future.

During training with Buttar, I was taught several very good skills. For the swimming training, Kim showed me where to line up at the water’s edge to get the best angle and how to maneuver through the water and people. The cycling part of the training, Z taught me how to change gears, seize corners and over take the competition. Z teaching the transitions was excellent. He had me focus on what was next, where my bike was and to keep picturing step by step.
The overall training experience was superb and extremely helpful.

So. Its clear not just to me, but other people see how quickly I’ve gone from being injured and not being able to ride, to riding really strong. I’ve been called “a machine” by two different people (one from work and the other at Tour de Cure) and if I were to list the reasons why, here they are. 1. Is definitely the training schedule. After modifying it to better suit my time i can dedicate, the training has been phenomenal! Yes its hard. Yes sometimes i ask myself, “Why am I doing this?” .. but then I have amazing rides and then I get my answer. 2. Supplements. I dont think supplements alone can get you to the next level, but with the right training supplements do exactly what they are supposed to do. I take (RELIGIOUSLY) O2 Gold, Muscle Strength, Catalyst, Arganine Extreme and I’ve added Mass Impact. I drink the latter two together and WOW is all I can say. Its amazing the extra ‘umph’ it give me. We are talking riding 20 mph, against the wind (and its pretty strong headwinds, 15+ mph) for 43 miles. Tour de Cure was the ride. Never have I felt so strong riding with a head wind. 3. The desire to get better. Training and Supplements will get you to a point, but the desire to get better is all internal. But when the results get better and better, and you get stronger (both mentally and physically) because of the training, its a 100% win!
For anyone who is considering hiring a coach, and you have the desire to get better, and you have the will and are ready to sacrifice a little pain (good pain) for great results, I can only recommend Z and Advocare to take you to the next level.
